Red Bull's Soapbox Races 2014 (Entries 31 to 37)

October 24, 2014

Entry 31 (MJ and the Black Fish) I have to admit that I totally missed the reference until I saw the car rolling down the hill and I said: "Of course!" Beside my lack of pop culture knowledge, this team completed the course in record time and manage to smash against the ramp's Plexiglas during the last turn.

Entry 33 (Downhill Jerkies) had the blessing of Mr. Oberto himself but their speedboat could not get up to speed in the dry land.

Entry 35 (Runaway Bride) had a lot of good points in its favor: a great vehicle, a good driver and a marching band.

Entry 36 (Ohana Belltown) (just a block from our apartment) gave a decent performance but part of the vehicle was lost after the last turn.

You can watch Entries 31 to 37 here.

Red Bull's Soapbox Races 2014 (Entries 21 to 30)

October 21, 2014

Entry 21 (Bashful Batmen) could not manage the first of the jumps in the course and "Zoink", "Bang" one of his tires gave up.

Entry 23 (Lands of Time Capsules) got into a shaky start and lost speed during the course but it made it in one piece to the finish line.

Entry 25 (Duck Rockers) from the Duck Tours company, their amphibious truck are a familiar sight here in Seattle unfortunately one of the tires could not handle the last turn and the driver had to do a "Fred Flintstone" for the last 20 yards.

Entry 28 (SKOB) was really memorable, not because it performed a great run, but because a banana was riding a gorilla.. yeah you read it right.

Entry 30 (Flying Taco) manged the jumps and corners with great speed and confidence but it overcompensated during the last turn and made an unscheduled stop at a bale of hay.

You can watch Entries 2 to 30 here.

Red Bull's Soapbox Races 2014 (Entries 11 to 20)

October 14, 2014

Entry 11 (Bunny Slipper) made it all the way down but it could not manage the last turn.

Entry 14 (Calozzi's CheeseSteaks) did a good run but the speed was lacking.

The ramp is back on again!

Entry 16 pulled a lucky number and arrived to the goal line with couple of close calls.

Entry 18 got to the finish line.. eventually.

Entry 20 (The Summit) a snow tractor was able to conquer the hill with no difficulty.

You can watch Entries 11 to 20 here.

Redbull's Soapbox Races 2014 (Entries 1 to 10)

October 9, 2014

We got a excellent location at the Soapbox Races, all the way downhill next to the entrance of the final ramp and we had a clear shot of the Judges place and the big outdoor screen were we could see the start of each race.

The sound was terrible on the first half of the event but then somebody finally turned the speakers on towards the end of the race.

Entry 01 lost control after the first jump and paid a visit to a bale of hay a couple of yards ahead.

Entry 03 (Duck Tape) made all the way downhill swiftly but it could not manage the ramp at the bottom of the hill and it smashed the Plexiglas guard. Unfortunately this will cause the ramp to be close for the next 10 or so participants.

Entry 06 (Legion of Zoom) drove a tricycle with plenty of spring in its suspension but not enough speed.

Entry 08 was in chase of the Yeti and manage to make it safely to the finish line.

Entry 10 (Berth'as Last Stand) did not get stuck in her path and completed an impressive run.

You can watch Entries 1 to 10 here.

Redbull's Soapbox Races 2014 (The Pits)

October 7, 2014

It has been almost a month since Redbull's Soapbox Races took place at about a mile away from our apartment is here in Seattle. But back-to-back out of state conventions and regular work have been preventing me to finish editing video and uploading pictures to our site.

But I say, no more. I will be posting links to pictures and videos of the race during this week; first in line we have a photo album with pictures of the amazing vehicles that were put to the test on a treacherous downhill track with jumps, turns and a final metal turn at the end of the course.

But I am getting ahead of myself, first the pictures of the pits, enjoy.
